As part of our education programme we organised an event with Kurdish Middle Eastern Women’s Organisation on International Women’s Day (8 March) discussing honour killing and domestic violence within the Iraqi Kurdish community, which unfortunately continues to be an issue in the Islington Iraqi and Kurdish community.  This year alone FIR has referred 6 women to KMEWO experiencing domestic violence.  ... FIR Organized New Year’s eve Event FIR  organized a party on New Year’s Eve where many young refugees along with their families attended. FIR  provided foods and drinks along with music. Client J- a woman with a young child contacted the Federation the week before Christmas.  She telephoned the Development Worker following an unsuccessful visit to the Home Office to seek help with her housing needs. Apparently she was told by the Home Office official that if she was homeless she should get in touch with someone in the Iraqi community ... Read More »

Client Y- In March 2016 the Federation was contacted by a distressed couple who was placed in emergency accommodation in Croydon.  The couple was separated from their 18 month old child by people smugglers in Lille but was subsequently found by a motorist walking alone along a busy road in the area and taken to the local police station.  After ...
